Last night was the annual Meldrum Family Halloween Party. Charlotte always goes all out, and this year was no exception. The theme this year was magic; the decorations, the games, and even the entertainment followed the theme. We ate worms (spaghetti) with all the disgusting sides you can think of: rotting greens with slime (salad with green ranch), mouse droppings (Mickey Mouse shaped cheese), fingers (breadsticks), and witch's brew. After dinner, it was time for some games, and then the biggest part of the night: the Magician! He was so good with the kids, and they laughed at all of his jokes (even the ones they probably didn't understand). After the show, it was time for dessert. We made ice cream, but not just any ice cream, it was ice cream that Jeff froze for the kids with liquid nitrogen! It was so neat, and the kids thought that it was magic, too! Then came my favorite part of the night. We went outside, and Jeff put on a "magic" chemistry show. He turned on William Tell Overture, and made latex gloves explode in time with the cannons in the song. He explained how it all worked, but of course it all went over my head! Haha! The kids looked great, and it was such a fun night!
